In choosing how to make your first skydive, ask yourself why you are doing this. If the answer is, “just to see what it's like” or “as a once in a life-time experience”, then a TANDEM JUMP is the thing for you!
If you think this could be a sport you would really like to start, then our ACCELERATED FREE FALL COURSE will put you on the right track.
Tandems are the quickest, safest way to introduce you to freefall. After only a few minutes of instruction, you are ready to do a tandem jump.
You will enjoy a 10 minute scenic ride up to the dizzying height of 11,000 ft, where you will exit the aircraft attached by harness to your instructor. Then plunge into the rush of a 40 second freefall!
Once your Instructor has opened your parachute at 5,000 ft you will begin a 10 minute decent with time to take in the spectacular view while your Instructor steers you safely back to earth.
Pretoria Skydiving Club boasts South Africas hottest freefall photographers, who will capture the entire experience on digital camera, to be edited onto a DVD for you.
Two-on-one teaching and freefall footage has made Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) the most successful and sought-after method of teaching a student to become a capable skydiver. Jumpers who learnt via the old 'static line' method would have had in the region of 40 jumps before coming close to the skill level that our AFF students are at after only 10 jumps!
On your first jump (Level 1 AFF), you exit the aircraft at 11,000 ft with two instructors, one to each side of you - as well as an OUTSIDE CAMERAPERSON who records the entire jump. The instructors will give you in-air signals, constantly supervising the position of your body and helping you to make the necessary corrections.
Once you have landed your square parachute by yourself, you get a chance to look at the footage with your instructor, who will provide you with a slow-motion playback of his critique.
The outside camera angle is an exceptional learning tool, and the only reliable means to remember everything about your very first skydive! Outside camera is not mandatory on any subsequent levels of AFF, but is highly recommended.
While AFF may look more expensive, it actually works out to the same amount of money to get your first licence through either the static line or AFF method. The AFF method just involves fewer jumps, but they are all from top altitude and provide the best possible instruction.
