An Australian tourist, Erin Langworth (22), is lucky to be alive to tell about her death-defying experience after a bungee cord broke resulting in her falling into the Zambezi River on New Year’s Eve.
The bungee cord snapped as she was at the end of her 111m jump from the Victoria Falls bridge on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. She survived the impact from the fall and overcame two more life-and-death situations: to be dragged downstream towards rapids whit her feet remaining tied and being attacked alive by crocodiles that infest this African river.
She untied herself when the rope was caught on rocks and was able to swim to the Zimbabwean side of the river where she was reached by rescuers and airlifted to a hospital.
