Did you know that the annual Vaal River Meander Wine Route discerns itself from all the other Wine Routes in South Africa, in that it has a record number of ways in which you can enjoy this annual winter wine feast?
Be it by vintage car, luxury cruiser, limousine, helicopter, speedboat, houseboat, donkey cart, tour-bus along with a child-friendly environment – our Vaal Wine Meander has something for everyone and we are only 45 minutes from Jo’burg and very easy to find!
And this year you have 8 weeks to repeatedly take advantage of this winter treat – from the 7th July to the 26th August.
Wine novices or lovers might just want to enjoy a casual meander in their own car visiting the dozen wine venues around the Vaal, or you could do it by electing to use any of the many transport options available to you as well as special packages you can enjoy too.
In its 9th year of existence, this popular winter outing has grown over the years and as a result, is able to keep its excellently priced wine tastings of only R20.00 per venue for tastings. Each venue hosts between 8 – 21 wines.
Every winter the Venues around the Vaal align themselves with the best South African Wine Estates and for those 8 weeks each become a mini Wine Estate – but with optional add on experiences such as:
- Helicopter Flips between two Wine Tasting Venues;
- Cruising Wine Tasting Luncheons or an afternoon Wine Tasting aboard one of the Vaal’s luxurious Cruisers;
- Meandering in a Vintage Car between the different Wine Tasting Venues;
- Experience a quaint French Restaurant with all the frills of fine dining - while sipping great wine;
- Spend the weekend at a Lodge filled with wine tasting, spa treatments and great food;
- Spending a night aboard the Vaal’s most luxurious House Boat as you enjoy wine tasting along the Vaal;
- visit a Character Pub, Restaurant or Tavern with oodles of character.
There are so many different ways this Vaal River Meander Wine Route has the edge over other Wine Routes – including packages for Corporates to treat their Staff or Clients to a well-priced Wine Tasting experience with food pairing and even wine and chocolate pairing – every experience with a distinctive edge.
